Color scheme

Shenker Academy environmental curriculum for 2 years, 3 years, and 4 years old promotes excellence in developmental and academic skills through environmental education that focuses on resources that are based on Project Learning Tree (www.plt.org). Project Learning Tree is an award-winning environmental education program designed for teachers and other educators, parents, and community leaders working with youth from preschool through grade 12. The curriculum embarks on ecological phenomenon involving water, plants, animals, and human, to learn scientific facts, as well as language, mathematics, and fine arts.

Curriculum Objectives

  • The students will develop awareness, appreciation, skills, and commitment to address environmental issues focused on 4 thematic units: Water, plants, animals, and humanity.

  • Students will be provided with framework to apply scientific processes and higher order thinking skills to resolve environmental problems.

  • Students will acquire an appreciation and tolerance of diverse viewpoints on environmental issues and develop attitudes and actions based on analysis and evaluation of the available information.

  • Students will be encouraged to creativity, originality, and flexibility to resolve environmental problems and issues.

  • Students will be inspired to become responsible, productive, and participatory members of society.

Time Allocation

The planning of the Environmental Curriculum includes a recommended timetable to support the delivery of the curriculum and maximize the exposure to all 4 themes. The hours per week allocated to the implementation of the curriculum are to be determined by grade level with the Director.

However, it also recommended to spread the 4 themes evenly across the school year calendar in this order:

  1. August- October- Water

  2. November- January- Plants

  3. February- March- Humanity

  4. April- May- Animals
