Lead Teacher
Qualifications
- A degree in early childhood education, a related field, or a CDA (Childhood Developmental Associate).
- Must be able to relate well to children and parents.
- Must have good written and oral communication skills.
- Must be a self-starter, work independently, and follow directions.
- Must be able to supervise an assistant.
- Must be available to attend all meetings and scheduled activities.
- Must be able to develop and facilitate own lesson plans.
- Must be able to follow the Multiple Intelligence Theory.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute appropriate educational early childhood experiences with a variety of materials in the fields of art, music, literature, science, mathematics, physical movement, etc.
- Have materials, books, art supplies, and any other items ready at the beginning of the day so that activities are ready to execute and children do not have to wait.
- Prepare weekly lesson plans – post in the classroom.
- Create a developmentally appropriate classroom that encourages children to learn in all areas of development (Social, Emotional, Physical, and Cognitive).
- Provide a safe, clean, uncluttered, classroom. Keep eye contact and observe children at all times.
- Develop and facilitate activities that will promote all areas of development.
- Conduct observations of the children in the classroom to develop anecdotal records in order to assess each child’s knowledge and overall developmental progress.
- Work with parents to promote understanding of their child’s development and growth and encourage parents to participate in school and classroom activities.
Reporting Relationships
- Reports information to the Director on all parent, child, or staff matters.
- Is in direct communication with the classroom assistant for a smooth-running environment.
Assistant Teacher
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years old.
- Must have a high school diploma.
- Must have a background in early childhood education with teaching experience in this field.
- Must continue the process of becoming professionally prepared to teach young children (continuing education).
- Must have good writing and communication skills.
- Must be available for all meetings and scheduled activities.
- Must follow all policies and procedures of the school.
- Must take directions and suggestions from the teacher without reprisal.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the teacher.
- Assist the teacher in any other appropriate ways.
- Assist in preparing the learning environment, setting up centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
- Supervising the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.
- Help maintain the health, cleanliness and organization of the room.
- Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the program at all times.
- Be attentive to the children at all times.
Reporting Responsibilities
- Reports to the teacher in the classroom.
- Will not report or give information to parents unless OK’d by the teacher or Director. Conversations with parents regarding their child’s behavior must be limited due to conflicting reporting.
- In the absence of the teacher, report to the Director. If they are absent, then report to the Assistant Director.
Limits of Authority
- Assistants cannot change lesson plans, activities, or hours of work. Assistants cannot set up meetings with parents, express a viewpoint regarding a student to the parents, or interject ideas when a teacher is talking to a parent.
Administrative Assistant
Qualifications
- Academic Degree in Education or a related field is required.
- 2-3 years of clerical, secretarial, or office experience. Educational experience is required.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable with routine multi-tasking.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head of School with educational, admissions, and organizational matters.
- Organize and maintain files.
- Manage communication including emails and phone calls.
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and reservations as needed.
- Maintain and order office supplies.
- Receive invoices and review for accuracy
- Coordinate programs and educational matters.
- Participate in Head of School’s meetings.
Reporting Relationships
- Reports information to the Head of School on all parent, child, or staff matters.
Janitorial/Maintenance
Qualifications
- Previous experience in janitorial, maintenance, or as a handyman.
- Comfortable with routine multi-tasking.
Responsibilities
- Unlock front office doors, classrooms, disarm the alarm.
- Mix bleach for disinfecting/sanitize per SNHD instructions.
- Maintains clean kitchenette: wash dishes, clean countertops, remove expired foods, record refrigerator temperature.
- Prepare/serve morning snacks in Kitchenette.
- Disinfect door handles across the facility.
- Disinfect playgrounds.
- Check lobby’s restrooms (3 times per day).
- Clean property from paper/trash.
- Upon need: Replacing light bulbs, plumbing, doormats.
- Upon need: maintenance, putting together furniture/bookshelves.
- Check wear & tear in all classroom and toilet rooms.
- On Wednesdays: Refill water dispensers.
- Prepare an Afternoon snack.
Non-Routine Tasks
- Painting
- Carpeting
- Plumbing
- Replacing light bulbs/ballasts
- Check classroom bathrooms (toilet seats, toilet tanks, flush).
- Helping administration with various needs.
